Voluntary Pre-K Program - With the success we've had with our VPK program at Lake Gem Elementary, we are proud to share that we will have this program again for the 2008-09 school year. Registration is underway. For your child to be eligible, he/she must have been born between 09.02.03 and 09.01.04. When you come to register, please bring proof of residency and proof of age.
The proof of residency must be one of the following documents:
- Current Homestead Exemption card
- Purchase Contract
- Warranty Deed or Lease/Rental Agreement (if you have lived in Florida for more than 1 year)
- Verification of address from Pupil Assignment (If you have lived in Florida for more than 1 year)
- or Declaration of Domicile (If you have lived in Florida for less than 1 year)
The proof of age will need to be one of the following:
- Child's birth certificate
- insurance policy
- passport
- school record
- certificate of Baptism accompanied by parent's affidavit
- Bona fide Bible record, accompanied by parent's affidavit
- or Affidavit of age sworn to by parent, accompanied by a medical practitioner's statement.

Accelerated Reader is a wonderful way to track students reading progression throughout the year. Every student will be expected to take A.R. tests every week. Points will be kept track of by Ms. Kelley and your child's teacher. Students will receive prizes for reaching their A.R. levels and the classes with the most points will receive a class treat from the school.
